Out and About in LA: 1 Year Anniversary

A little over a year ago I started a journey. I was asked by a major television company to move on from New Jersey and live in Culver City. Two dreams were FINALLY given to me by not only working in the industry I desperately wanted and also getting to live out in the city where my dreams can hopefully come true. It has certainly been a wild ride since moving on out to the west coast. I’ve made a lot of friends, networking pals, and worked in a variety of jobs I never dared thought was possible.

Out and About in LA: Pacific Coast Highway

So the other day, well okay months ago, I went to Santa Monica. I noticed the beauty of the area but also the infamous route known as the Pacific Coast Highway (also known as Highway 1). Now this massive piece of road goes through the majority of California and, for now anyways, I do not have time to drive the whole thing. But I thought to give a taste of what the highway is like from one major beach to as far as an hour drive. So if you are a fan of the beach, or of travelogues, or if you are even in the East Coast being miserable with the cold I say: Enjoy.

Out and About in Santa Monica

It may come as a surprise to many but there are many beaches of Los Angeles I have yet to travel to. Malibu, Hermosa, Long Beach; almost any you can think of sans Venice I haven’t crossed. So on my day off from work I decided to visit one of these shores everyone gushes about. I went to the second closest beach to me: Santa Monica. Let me tell you something before you see these photos: Santa Monica Beach is gorgeous. Go to Venice for the interesting pieces of humanity but walk further to Santa Monica to enjoy the gorgeous scenery. I’m not even a beach guy and I wanna keep coming back to this place. So enjoy the beauty that is:

Out and About in Venice

I’m not a beach kind of guy. The idea of laying on sand, with the mucky ocean, and a blazing sun just never appeals to me. There are much better ways for me to relax which is why you see so many posts regarding walking around. But there are a few places I love to go to when it comes close to the ocean. Back in Jersey places like Wildwood and Atlantic City were hotspots because there were a ton of things to do outside of the shore. A place like Venice Beach in LA reminds me a lot of those areas where I grew up. Lots of interesting visuals, people, and stores to look around. Hell it’s kinda like a place for the homeless to thrive and showcase their wares to the public. It is an ingenious way to get money if you really know how to create. Anyways, if you have never been to the area let me give you a taste of what there is to offer.

Out and About in LA: Bikes and Cracks

I try to do as much as I can with this new neighborhood I live in. So when I hear a major event like CicLAvia comes by my door I have to experience it. Basically, CicLAvia is an organization where they close a few roads and let people ride/bike their way around the neighborhood. This time it is blocking the majority of Washington Blvd from downtown Culver City to Venice Beach. Now that’s a six mile journey and honestly I could not see myself go that far and back. But by going halfway I got to experience the Culver area in greater scope than I would with my car. There was a sea of people as well and it always surprises me how many people live in this city. Looks like it doesn’t hit the Culver area again til next year, but it’ll be in Downtown LA come October. Maybe I’ll see you guys in a few months!

Out and About in LA: Family Reunion

Good news! I had visitors from the family this weekend. Specifically my sister and her boyfriend since they were traveling across California. It was a pretty sweet day because I haven’t seen anyone from Jersey in two months! So, of course we painted the town red. Or at least a solid magenta.
